4th Elbe Island Art and Studio Days, September 2014

90 artists – 30 venues in Wilhelmsburg/Veddel
on September 13 and 14, 2014, from 12:00 to 19:00

Visitors can enjoy an exciting tour of 30 different studios and art locations.

All artist houses are represented: Künstlerhaus Georgswerder, Atelierhaus 23, Veringhof 22, Zinnwerke, Ateliers der Honigfabrik, Ateliers Jaffestraße. Other artists exhibit in their own studios: it’s a particularly interesting and authentic experience to meet the artists and their works in their creative spaces. Artists without a studio show in living rooms, garden sheds, attics, empty storefronts, cafés/bars, and even hair salons.

All art disciplines are represented: painting, sculpture, photography, illustration, ceramics, screen printing, installation, performance, conceptual art, printmaking, interactive performances… Any artist working in Wilhelmsburg and Veddel may participate. Participation is uncensored to reflect the full diversity of local artists.

Again, interesting workshops are offered to provide insight into the artists’ work: the first Wilhelmsburg TV editorial team, writing workshops, open-air ceramic firing, screen printing, wood repair workshop with a 3D printer, Structuristic painting, album cover design, collages, paper cuttings from edition 8×8, wire objects…

For children: doodling and crafting books, movable-picture books, building with clay, wood, and stone.

For young adults: a collage course to get to know the Free School of Design.

Workshops are free thanks to funding from the Sanierungsbeirat S5, SAGA/GWG, Otto Meyer & Co.

At Künstlerhaus Georgswerder on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 15:00, there will be a prize for the most creative cake contributions! Other studios will also offer cake/coffee and live music.

In the Lüdemann bookstore, Fähstraße 26, books, comics, and postcards by exhibiting artists will be on display.

As the organizer, I especially appreciate the cooperative spirit among Elbe Island artists. Once again, a colorful mix of local professional artists, amateurs, hobby painters, art students, and free spirits has come together with something special for the studio days. Newcomers and long-established artists, young art students and senior artists are exhibiting—a painter even at 88 years old!
