Structurism: The Synthesis of Art and Craft

STRUCTURISM offers a public-oriented and technically refined art doctrine outside academic spheres, which is easy to learn in its practical application and whose theoretical foundation opens up a completely new perspective on the essence of visual art and its educational benefits. At the same time, it enables the creation of high-quality art that can also be sold exceptionally well.

After approximately 25 years of research and development with solid findings in theory and practice, the team around the internationally renowned founder of the Structuristic Art Doctrine, Felix Stoffel-Dunkel, will launch a central teaching center in Lindau on Lake Constance in March 2010.

The artistic director of this revolutionary form of art education, Laila Capadrutt, already has more than ten years of experience and receives great recognition as a skilled master of Structurism.

The famous German artist Joseph Beuys once stated that communication is above all what matters for developing the artistic aim of a ‘Social Sculpture of Society.’ Stoffel-Dunkel expands this concept by designing the original idea of the ‘Individualized Mass Product’ specifically for the art market.

In the future, all products of daily life—though industrially manufactured—will always be tailored to the wishes and needs of a single person, thanks to innovative information and communication technologies that enable individual configurations (this trend is known as ‘Mass Customization’).

Accordingly, every officially registered Structuristic artwork will bear a uniform stamp in which the respective artist’s personality is encoded and thus legally secured. Under this Structuristic label, an unprecedented artistic organism is continuously growing, networking hundreds of works of the same type while still maintaining clearly distinguishable individual characters.

The curriculum is aimed at people of all ages and requires no special prior knowledge. The training modules include: Hobby Courses (for general art enthusiasts, tourists, and holiday kids or as project weeks for schools and kindergartens, as well as workshops for other institutions interested in this quickly learnable technique); Advanced Courses (after learning the basics, participants deepen the technique and begin with theory); Master Courses (particularly dedicated graduates are encouraged to earn a diploma as Structuristic artists). Additionally, motivated and high-performing masters have the opportunity to be trained and certified as Teaching Instructors for Structuristic Art. From there, the training becomes specifically didactic and pedagogical. With this diploma, one can then obtain a license to lead one’s own school (these licenses are awarded only to the best of the best to maintain the quality standards of the Structuristic Art Doctrine).

On Friday, January 22 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Saturday, January 23 from 2:00 to 6:00 PM, and Sunday, January 24 from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, you can view a small selection of the ever-expanding body of work at the ‘Haus des Gastes’ at the market square in Ottobeuren. A daily live demonstration offers insight into this fascinating art form.
